We rely on generous gifts from people like you, businesses, and foundations to help support the costs of processing livestock for distribution/use by partnering food agencies in communities all throughout Indiana.
Meat is the most expensive commodity for a food agency to obtain. Your decision to donate makes a tangible impact on the lives of those in your community who don’t know if they’ll have nutritional meat for their next meal.
Your tax-deductible gift supports the mission and will expand processing of livestock providing nutritious meat to more Hoosiers in need.
Gifts* of Livestock (cows, pigs [sows, gilts, barrows, feeders], goats, sheep, poultry) and deer may be donated through a partnering meat processor near you. Financial gifts* may be given by cash, check, or credit card as a Personal Donation, through Corporate Support, Donor Advised/Required IRA Distribution, through Legacy Planning, as a Celebration/Memorial Gift, and Gifts of Stock. Every gift is appreciated!*Hoosiers Feeding the Hungry is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and your gifts are tax-deductible. Please consult with your tax professional for your personal tax benefit.
Our agency works directly with the Indiana DNR law enforcement division for this program which allows hunters to donate their whole field-dressed in hide deer at no cost to them to a participating “Hunt for Hunger” meat processor. The venison is then processed into 1-to-2-pound ground freezer packs and picked up by a partnering meat recipient agency.
Yes! To qualify for processing livestock for our program you must be Indiana State or USDA licensed and complete an agreement with Hoosiers Feeding the Hungry. If you process deer you must be registered through the Indiana DNR and hold the current year’s Indiana Certificate of Registration as a Commercial Deer Processor and complete an agreement with Hoosiers Feeding the Hungry. Give us a call to be directed to a partnering meat processor in your area! Then contact your meat processor in advance to see if they have availability to receive your donated animal. Be sure to take it on your prescheduled day.
